Airbnb is breaking into the nonprofit sector with an initiative that provides free and discounted stays for essential workers and refugees.

The Covid pandemic has prompted just about everyone to step up and do their part.  In an effort to unify the public in times of social distancing and quarantine, nonprofit organizations have risen to the challenge.  Airbnb is the latest company to join in on the nonprofit efforts.

This new initiative, known as Airbnb.org, is an evolution of Airbnb’s former Open Homes and Frontline Stays programs.  Separate from the company’s primary platform, this nonprofit will allow rental hosts to offer their properties free of charge or at discounted rates.  The idea is that these low to no cost rentals will be able to help people affected by natural disasters and the essential workers who are on the frontlines of the Covid pandemic.
